Cannot join (+r); however I *am* registered. reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- parnmatt · 2014-05-12 18:19 I am new to IRC, and want to learn as I am migrating to Linux; a lot of support is via IRC. As you can see in the linked image, I cannot connect to #archlinux on freenode. This occurs on both Mango^2 on my iPhone and irssi on my Mac. I am using my registered nick, email validated with ENFORCE on. I have this identifying me on login; this can be confirmed in the background of the linked image. I have tried searching for this online, the only suggestion is to register with NickServ. I have *already* done this. Can anyone suggest what is wrong with this? or link me to a possible solution? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- fedv · 2014-05-12 18:23 Your client is sending an identify command and then a join command immediately after, your auto identify is working, yes, but services are not on the server you're on so there's a lag, you can /join #archlinux manually after connect and identifying, however having autojoin on, after you identify may not always work. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- parnmatt · 2014-05-12 18:48 I did not use the auto-join feature. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- parnmatt · 2014-05-12 18:59 For some strange reason my account now "wasn't registered"; even though I tried only an hour ago. I re-registered and tried from irssi, and I could connect. *Strange.* ---------------------------------------------------------------------- PriceChild · 2014-05-12 19:12 Pretty sure this is freenode... is it possible that you hadn't verified your email address by following the instructions in your email inbox? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- parnmatt · 2014-05-12 19:15 I did. Both originally, and just again now when I re-registered. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2014-05-17 02:30 Even though nickserv says you are identified, make sure you are truly identified by /WHOIS'ing yourself. The IRCd will also send a "You are not logged in as x" message in addition to what NickServ sends you. Like rdv said, there simply could have been some lag when you were identifying, and your identified state could have not been pushed to all of freenode's servers yet.
