Help with script

Hi.
I really need help here :)
So i havent used irc in 10 years.. resently took it up again.
I need some help with a script.

Basic script:
on *:TEXT:*goeshere*:#chan:/msg $chan reply

I need to make this in a way that ppl cant abuse it by typing the
keyword over and over. And making me spam the channel/minecraft
server.

Im really back at noob with irc :s
We got a irc channel connected to a minecraft server, and i use this
as a autorespond on keyword(my nick) to tell ppl that im afk. No need
for help to load/unload.
I use mIRC/KVIrc

As a naive approach I would use a timer.

Start with a global variable, example: onTimeout = false;

When the text is triggered check the variable.  You have 2 cases:

onTimeout = false;


Then

Set onTimeout = true;

Create a timer that will set the timer to false after x seconds.

Do whatever you need to do.

End


onTimeout = true:

Then

Do nothing

End
So, if someone has already triggered the timer then onTimeout will be
set to true and nothing will trigger until the variable is set to
false.  Or, the variable is false.  Whatever you want to get done gets
done and there is a pause for the timer of the duration before your
script is triggered again
