Registered my first channel (some noob questions that have come up)

So I finally decided to register a channel for my friends and I to
work on different computer related stuff. We're all new to irc, but
I'm the least new so it kinda falls on me to set things up. So I
registered a channel, left, and now chanserv is op. How do I gain op
status back from chanserv.

Also, I'm trying to put a password on it, but this error comes up when
I try to add one.
>MODE cannot be set due to channel having an active MLOCK restriction
policy

How do I fix both these issues?
