Trouble with getting red of my away status

I'm relatively new to irc (~a month) and I used the /away command in
irc today. I assumed you would just type it again and it would undo
it. Apparently not. I googled how to change your status from away and
it said the same thing. Just type it again and it should go away.

But when I type /away
Already marked away: []
Usage: AWAY [<reason>], sets you away

What am I doing wrong?

I'm using Hexchat

Some clients (presumably also HexChat) provide a default away reason
if you don't give one, which leads the server to think you're away
anyway.  These clients generally provide /back as an alias for AWAY
with no arguments (which removes your away status).
