Windows IRC client with conversation detection? (Or just best conversation support) reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- UTAN_dev · 2014-02-20 15:34 Having grown to love various Twitter clients' conversation support — where I can select a Tweet and get the full conversation in its own window — I'm starting to look forlornly at my IRC client's single window, full of separate conversations. Is there a Windows client that can either automatically (that'd be sweet) or manually extract conversations based on who's replying to whom? Thanks for your suggestions! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Egotism · 2014-02-20 15:39 mIRC puts all queries in their own window. HexChat can be used on Windows which puts all queries in their own seperate Windows.. KVIrc can do this, IceChat.. Several others I missed. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- seiyria · 2014-02-20 16:17 I think he means detecting threading within a window, wherein you reply to each other such that you mention each others name in a message. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Egotism · 2014-02-20 23:54 Ah, that sounds.. convoluted, probably the reason I don't care for Twitter, I can't see how more than 2 people can have a conversation without confusion. To op: BUT, most (all?) IRC clients have highlighting, when you type out the person's nickname, it'll change the colors of the lines to distinguish that you're being spoken to directly.. I don't know of any such client that will act like Twitter in the regard that Seiyria mentioned. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- m1ss1ontomars2k4 · 2014-02-21 02:13 So you expect people to just magically prefix all their messages with someone else's nick? Seems a little unlikely...
