What's the best IRC to use for iOS? reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- MikeyJayRaymond · 2014-02-16 01:24 Looking for the best IRC to use on my iPhone 4S. Using it for moderator discussions. I would prefer one with push notifications. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- greenduch · 2014-02-16 01:27 colloquy is a pretty popular choice, though not perfect. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- MikeyJayRaymond · 2014-02-16 01:29 Thanks for the quick response. Does it have Push Notifications or a method of getting them? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- greenduch · 2014-02-16 01:36 I rarely use it, so I'm not entirely sure. But colloquy seems to be the only legit iOS client, as far as I can tell. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2014-02-16 02:27 This is not only a client, but a whole solution: IRCCloud. IRCCloud is a free (w/o ads) or payed for IRC bouncer that is accessible from their web app, their mobile apps (which includes iOS), and their API. Their mobile apps also support push notifications. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- MikeyJayRaymond · 2014-02-16 02:31 Downloading and trying now. Thanks. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- austindkelly · 2014-02-16 03:09 I came here to mention IRC Cloud. But also Palaver is a nice simple IRC client for iOS as well. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- MikeyJayRaymond · 2014-02-16 03:11 Question about IRC Cloud. I have limited experience with IRC, when I went to the link that was provided for me on PC, I just entered a nickname and started chatting on the server. Now, after downloading IRC so I could access it from mobile, it requests an email and password? For what exactly? Do I need to make an account with them? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- austindkelly · 2014-02-16 03:23 Yes you need an account which may require an invite. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- vidplace7 · 2014-02-16 14:39 If you need an invite PM me ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2014-02-16 19:46 [deleted] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2014-02-18 23:02 Let me know what you think :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- FiendKing04 · 2014-02-22 13:09 I agree. It's definitely worth the couple of dollars that it cost IMO. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- FiendKing04 · 2014-02-22 13:10 It does have push notifications. You can enable them (I believe on a server-by-server basis) in the settings. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- FiendKing04 · 2014-02-22 13:11 This bugs the hell out of me! The only way I saw to get around this was to JB my phone, and I just didn't feel like doing that yet. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- greenduch · 2014-02-22 14:01 Thanks. I thought it did but wasn't 100% sure.
