I'm looking for an IRC server based around traditional chat functions
and more serious discussions, casual conversation, politics,
philosophy, etc. I idle on Quakenet but it's mainly a gaming server.
Are there any out there that exists? Preferably a more populated
server, late night activity.

/r/futorology has a recently started up IRC channel that's pretty
active where they talk about a lot of new techology.

You're welcome to check out my network, TripSit. You can use the
webchat: chat.tripsit.me or use irc.tripsit.me SSL:6697 Our largest
room is #drugs which is very active. We have a lot of other channels
such as #compsci for all types of computer science stuff, and
#psychonaut for philosophy talk. If you register your nickname there's
also a 'vip' room that has pretty high quality talk among friends. All
in all i like to say its a friendly network. :)
