Hello /r/irc! Promote your favorite channel! reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- I_am_Minthe · 2013-11-14 21:04 I've been on IRC for a good 2 years or so, and I'm always searching for cool social channels. Plug your favorite channel, I want to visit it! I'll plug my current fav channel, *irc.dal.net #20s* Everyone's pretty cool there, it's mostly people from the US so night times are a bit busier. **Please let me know your hangout spot! I want to make new friends! :D** ---------------------------------------------------------------------- NWO_agent · 2013-11-14 21:20 Another thumbs up for #20s on irc.dal.net, although I am more of a freenode man. There is a variety of people, so you can talk about horses, books or tech-stuff and you might find somebody interested. It has also a fine stats tracking system for the shake of those curious. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- aberacadaberaa · 2013-11-14 21:29 What channels on freenode do you reccomend? I know there is a lot of technical/help channels, but is there any social channels you reccomend? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- wmcscrooge · 2013-11-14 21:53 #reddit-progether on irc.freenode.net; related to the [/r/progether](http://www.reddit.com/r/progether) subreddit, not too many people though activity is increasing. It's pretty cool especially since most of the guys there are the same people I've coded with or contributed code to. #xkcd on irc.foonetic.net is definitely a +1 as well for the enormous amount of activity and discussion there. And Bucket. Probably the best and most hilarious irc bot I've ever seen. The irc channel for arch linux is cool for help with arch stuff. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- I_am_Minthe · 2013-11-15 00:41 Thanks, I'm going to check out both of those tonite, look out for me with the nick {blue} :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- wmcscrooge · 2013-11-15 00:53 Awesome. Unless I fall asleep, I'll be in reddit-progether. I don't hang out xkcd anymore because I'm usually too busy to follow all the activity there, but you might fit in there. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- i-ride-dragons · 2013-11-15 01:08 I'm quite partial to #togetheralone on Freenode. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- marcusbro · 2013-11-15 01:33 my favorite channel on freenode is #weechat ---------------------------------------------------------------------- I_am_Minthe · 2013-11-15 01:42 Checking it out. holy wow thats a lot of nicks haha ---------------------------------------------------------------------- I_am_Minthe · 2013-11-15 01:43 It looks like it'd be very helpful, but it looks like they don't encourage social chat "English support channel, *ONLY* about WeeChat software" :( ---------------------------------------------------------------------- i-ride-dragons · 2013-11-15 01:48 It's a channel for a subreddit. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Katana__ · 2013-11-15 02:16 Last I knew, bucket was in sore need of a purge. Too many awful factoids, and the ops weren't really doing much with the delete requests. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- wmcscrooge · 2013-11-15 02:25 really? that's awful. I haven't been on in about a year, but I always thought that it was going well. I guess to the regulars, it wasn't as great as I thought. Can no one else remove factoids? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Jonno_FTW · 2013-11-15 02:27 Dontjoinitsatrap on rizon ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Katana__ · 2013-11-15 02:48 nope! only bucket mods. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- wmcscrooge · 2013-11-15 02:53 so the public can add but not delete? see, I get why they would decide to do it that way, but it still seems like there would be a better way than just leaving it in the hands of a few who may not always be there. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Katana__ · 2013-11-15 02:55 Creator can delete in certain circumstances, and a while back there was a drive to get people to point out bad/junk factoids, but in all honesty they need to go through with a shovel, not tweezers. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Addyct · 2013-11-15 03:54 \#CBB on snoonet, home of all the best people form /r/CollegeBasketball ---------------------------------------------------------------------- tavaryn · 2013-11-15 07:25 Most of my channels are private. :/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- neanderthalensis · 2013-11-15 15:06 I'm glad you asked. I've been hanging out on snoonet's `#reddit` simply because I don't know of a better general discussion channel. I do join various tech related ones, but they become an echo chamber. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2013-11-15 18:48 ##cafehouse on Freenode and #math and #Writers on undernet . Also #English on efnet ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2013-11-17 15:30 [deleted] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2013-11-18 13:52 [deleted] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- damn_shameless · 2013-12-16 13:25 My fav channel is actually two channels. #shameless & #england @ Quakenet IRC Network. Users are really openminded and talk about everything. We are Europeans though like 90% of us, gamers too :D I am a girl - yeah! http://irc.lc/quakenet/shameless \o/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- King_Dabu · 2014-05-03 07:26 #TreeParty on Quakenet, it's new so the community is fairly small but nice.
