Is there a minimal always on top IRC client? reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- xenyn · 2013-11-07 16:26 I am streaming but I don't have another monitor and would like to keep in touch with my viewers and know when someone new joins etc so I can greet them. [http://i.imgur.com/XtX017C.jpg](http://i.imgur.com/XtX017C.jpg) This is a screenshot of something I am trying out, but I'd prefer it if there was no Windows border..just something clean :) And if possible have the window transparent other than the chat text so I can still enjoy my game haha. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- greenduch · 2013-11-07 17:16 Hm, you can do this with irssi, but its a command line client, no gui. Its really not for everyone. http://www.irssi.org/about http://quadpoint.org/articles/irssi/ if you're on windows you'll need a terminal emulator. Someone else can probably recommend their preferred one. Also, nice WoW setup. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- AltReality · 2013-11-07 17:28 If you have an android or ios phone or tablet, you can purchase idisplay and use it as a secondary monitor. Thats what I did for monitoring my temps. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- xenyn · 2013-11-07 17:42 thank you, i'll check out irssi :) and thanks, it's just an elvUI compilation from tukui.org I just moved some stuff around and added some things! :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- xenyn · 2013-11-07 17:42 i have an ipod touch, ill look into idisplay. its just so tiny! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- kcsj0 · 2013-11-07 18:01 It took me a while to figure that tittle out. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Katana__ · 2013-11-07 18:09 I'd second most of this but would recommend weechat instead. Just my own thing, I prefer having a curses-driven client. :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- aperson · 2013-11-07 19:06 I'm not sure about windows, but any other decent OS lets you do that (no window borders/whole window transparent) with any window. I'm sure there's things that let you do that in windows. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2013-11-07 22:01 http://www.weechat.org/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- xenyn · 2013-11-08 00:16 thanks for everyones input! i managed to find a twitch app for my ipod that loads only chat, just wish it had a feature to see whos entering the stream as well but this will suffice until i can afford a 2nd monitor :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2013-11-08 04:27 The killer app seems to be irssi but I also like everything from the [suckless](http://tools.suckless.org/sic). I don't have any experience on sic or ii, but I am using [st](http://st.suckless.org/) the simple terminal which also supports CJK characters well a few months ago. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- bllgvn · 2013-11-08 12:05 I use Hexchat which is a fork of X-Chat on Windows, there is little chrome to get in the way and I find it easy to work with, there are transparency settings but I'll admit that I've never played with them. I don't know if this is exactly what you're looking for but it might do the job ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2013-11-08 15:31 [deleted] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- bllgvn · 2013-11-09 00:52 That sucks. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TingPing · 2013-11-10 14:35 The transparency has been entirely rewritten in git and is likely to be improved more in the near future. (HexChat that is) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2013-11-10 16:02 [deleted] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2013-11-11 12:27 I use [PowerMenu](http://www.abstractpath.com/powermenu/) for Windows to make any window 'always on top'.
