Help setting getting started.

Im playing a game where I hand out starter packs for new ppl.
But ofc, there is always someone that tries to exploit it in some way.

They make new characters and tries to get more packs that way.

My thought was to get a IRC channel up where they can easily connect
to using the Web IRC and I can check IP addresses within a min so
remove exploiters.

Also I need to keep my IP hidden to minimize getting DDOS'ed or
something of that nature.

Was wondering if anyone got any general tips and/or could direct me to
some guides etc for this.

IP addresses on most IRC networks are masked. You'd either have to
start your own server or find a server where IP address aren't hidden,
but then at that point yours would be shown too.

Your best bet would be to abandon the IRC idea and set up a web form
that grabs a user's IP address when submitted.

Nope. I've always just written my own in PHP.
