Need help with fixed wifth nicks in Irssi

I've seen some Irssi themes where they have the nicks in messages take
a fixed amount of space ([example](http://www.pulina.fi/wp-
images/valmis.png)). This makes the text much easier to read for me,
as every line starts at the same column.

[This](http://i.imgur.com/jaDE6Yb.png) is what my theme looks like
now. I tried using $[20]1 for nick strings, but it doesn't seem to be
working. I've downloaded multiple themes with the setup I'm trying to
imitate, but I can't for the life of me figure out how they do it.
I've yet to find a guide that would explain this as well.

Hey /u/Gawwad

Not sure if you have gotten this resolved, if not go on freenode,
#irssi, and ask there. They are awesome.  billnye is the dude and will
most likely be the one to help.
