Bot (or some other utility) to stream the tail of a file to IRC? reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- neph001 · 2013-10-10 20:09 Is there any existing software or resources to stream the tail of a file to IRC? If not, I can probably code it myself, I'm just hoping I can save time by taking advantage of existing resources. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- petteri · 2013-10-10 20:45 You can do it easily with ii. Here is a link: [ii is a minimalist FIFO and filesystem-based IRC client.](http://tools.suckless.org/ii/) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- neph001 · 2013-10-10 20:55 I'm not sure I understand how that can help. Isn't it just a client? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Paradox · 2013-10-10 21:03 Not that I know of, but its pretty simple to do. WeeChat and irssi both have FIFO pipes that you can pipe `tail -f` to. If you want something lighter, I'd recommend a [cinch](https://github.com/cinchrb/cinch) bot. Its got an ultra-simple DSL, and as long as you know a bit of ruby you're good ---------------------------------------------------------------------- RichardG867 · 2013-10-10 21:30 You just pipe the file to one of ii's control files, automatic tail. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- frumious · 2013-10-12 12:46 > Isn't it just a client? What do you think a bot is?
