Here's an open source web based IRC client I made using node.js, would love to have more contributions. reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- chandler243 · 2013-07-10 16:14 Tried the demo site on your Github page, however, it doesn't ever connect to the IRC server. I just get stuck with a (nearly) blank page with "Status" in the upper left corner. Other than that, the interface looks really nice. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2013-07-10 16:18 What server did you try and connect to? irc.freenode.net with a blank port should work ---------------------------------------------------------------------- chandler243 · 2013-07-10 16:21 That's exactly what I tried, I also tried to connect to my personal server with no luck. Running Google Chrome Build 27.0.1453.116 m if that helps at all. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2013-07-10 16:26 Are you getting any JS errors? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- chandler243 · 2013-07-10 16:27 None that I can see. Loading the JS console in Chrome also shows nothing. *Edit: In addition, I get [This](http://chandlershax- hastebin.herokuapp.com/pobayacito.coffee) error when trying to run it on my local Node instance, although that could be where I've messed something up. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2013-07-10 17:00 This is really hard to pin point. It's working for me locally and via the hosted version... I have no clue what could be your issues. If you don't mind me asking, where are you located? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- chandler243 · 2013-07-10 20:43 Sorry for the late response, Located in North Carolina, USA. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Fatstrings · 2013-07-11 00:42 Works great for me. I'm sure it's part of your pre-existing plans but I would appreciate some settings regarding appearances. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2013-07-11 02:14 You can create custom themes, take a look at this: https://github.com/cjstewart88/nirc#themes Although, this requires you to know css and to change some html to point to the right css file. I guess it'd be nice to have a dialog for setting that includes some appearance things. Do you have anything in mind? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Fatstrings · 2013-07-11 03:15 Thanks for the quick response. Mostly I was looking for a way to have a unique color for each user's nick in the channel. I'm familiar with css but I'm not sure how easily I could build something like that. edit: clarification ---------------------------------------------------------------------- kyleyankan · 2013-07-11 03:33 Freenode was having troubles today. Being ddos again. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2013-07-11 04:56 Ah, that would be a great feature for a theme. Not sure we could do it with just css though. Anyways, I'll keep it in mind! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- FiendKing04 · 2013-07-11 08:58 Very cool, love the minimalistic/simplistic interface. Was easy to get connected via SSL to my network. :3 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2013-07-11 13:02 Awesome, SSL was a community added feature! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Fatstrings · 2013-07-12 00:07 One more small complaint. Might be browser related but I am unable to cycle through previous statements with the up arrow. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2013-07-12 05:27 That's not a feature, but it should be! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- tselvan · 2013-07-15 07:45 Came across Scrollback.io, It is too open source web based IRC client. Check it at http://scrollback.io/ (https://github.com/askabt/scrollback) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2013-08-01 20:31 Setup .nick-color1 .nick-color2 .nick-color3, etc. within the CSS file (say 8 to 16 of them.) Then use Javascript to hash each nickname, and create a rule based on the hashes for determining which class should be applied to the nick. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2013-08-02 16:06 [deleted]
