Wow, thanks for this. CIRC should make it easier to introduce friends
to IRC without having to resort to (usually) terrible web clients.

Could really consider a Chromebook now, IRC was the only thing lacking
for me for a secondary machine.

If this is what was stopping you, there's plenty to choose from.
qwebirc, http://kiwiirc.com/, mibbit.com to name a few.

I'm fairly certain CIRC client doesn't require a proxy, so you can use
things like freenode without problems.

It's basically the closest thing google chrome has to chatzilla.
