Hey, I really enjoy just being able to hop on IRC and chat with anyone
at any given time. I really am interested in film and I thought it'd
be great if there was a community that used IRC. I've done some
googling and I just keep coming across dead channels. Does anyone have
any ideas?

There's a lot of people discussing search queries with the bots, but
not much otherwise.

In #elite-chat, the silence is filled with queries in addition to the
standard stillness and join/part messages. They get talking now and
then, unlike many of the other file sharing channels I've visited;
usually not about movies though.

You can join a public channel. I'm sure there are people who have seen
the same movies as you and will like to talk about it.

there might be an #xkcd-movies on freenode, there's a #xkcd-* channel
for just about everything else
