Why I need 10min to connect through ssh on certain server? reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2012-07-07 16:46 For exemple on the anonops server I always get * *** Looking up your hostname... * *** Skipping host resolution (disabled by server administrator) * Closing link: (unknown@64.xx.220.xxx) [Registration timeout] * Disconnected (L'hôte distant a fermé la socket). It keeps trying for some minutes and finally connect... What's the problem? It works fine on the other server ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TehZomB · 2012-07-07 18:23 It looks like your client isn't sending the registration (USER/PASS) commands to the server. What client are you using? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2012-07-07 19:04 [deleted] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TehZomB · 2012-07-07 21:48 Not that kind of register. Try using another client, or maybe AnonOps' implementation of ircd is buggy. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- masta · 2012-07-07 22:59 so the ssh is taking a long time to establish the connection? If yes, that is because your hostname is not in the reverse DNS. Simply add a PTR record so reverse lookups work, this is normally handled by the ISP or whoever is responsible for that IP. If you cannot do that then you might be able to change the settigns on the SSH server so it does not perfomr a revers lookup. in OpenSSH I believe it goes something like: UseDNS no Hope that helps. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- RUbernerd · 2012-07-08 03:29 disabled by server administrator Say again? @OP Try the identd service. It looks like your problem may be caused by that. You could reverse forward port 113 and see if that resolves the issue.
