I need help with running my client through Tor reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- FriendlyVisitor · 2012-03-02 05:59 So I got the Tor Browser Bundle, and ran it. Opened up XChat, configured my Network Setup to Hostname: 127.0.0.1 Port: 9050 Type: Socks5 Use proxy for: All connections Well now every time I try to connect to any server, I get a "Connection Failed. Error: Connection Refused". So I hopped on KVIrc, and setup the proxy to Proxy: Tor Port: 9050 IP address: 127.0.0.1 Protocol: SOCKSv5 And I connected, but not through Tor (I joined a channel, and my IP showed up). So, am I missing something? How do I connect to the Freenode server on Tor? **Note** I'm using an Ubuntu VM ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Paradox · 2012-03-02 07:50 http://freenode.net/irc_servers.shtml#tor ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2012-03-02 08:03 [deleted] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- FriendlyVisitor · 2012-03-02 13:35 First place I went, and I can't figure it out ---------------------------------------------------------------------- FriendlyVisitor · 2012-03-02 13:35 What about other servers ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2012-03-02 15:55 [deleted] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- FriendlyVisitor · 2012-03-02 16:32 1. What's a bouncer? 2. By other servers I mean a server other than freenode i.e. oftc or underthenet ---------------------------------------------------------------------- funknut · 2012-03-02 17:02 Look into Torify or Socksify. You can Socksify any Program by passing it as a parameter to the Socksify executable. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- brendan10211 · 2012-03-05 10:54 A bouncer is a server which you connect to, which then connects you through the tor tunnel. Sometimes it's an extra layer of protection, sometimes it allows you to connect to TOR because your isp blocks it. Try going to bouncers.... i was defining bridges, fuk
