Can anyone recommend a BNC host? reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Shotaphile · 2012-02-05 22:45 So I'm looking for a BNC host that doesn't cost an arm and a leg per month. If anyone has any experience with multiple hosts or can recommend one that they're using, that'd be awesome. A little more specifically, I'm hoping to find a cheapish host that already has a BNC service available and installed. Right now I'm using ServerFFS, and while they're very cheap and easy to set up, sometimes their connections are wonky and drop a lot much to my ire. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- rlweb · 2012-02-05 23:13 Don't go with bouncer4you. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2012-02-05 23:21 Are you just looking for an always on server that's not hosted on your current connection? I would check out http://www.buffalovps.com/ I use them for a VPS that I strictly use for screen/irssi. 7 bucks a month. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2012-02-05 23:30 Yeah, that's what I'm looking for. I've thought about using a VPS, but it seems like overkill for 2 or 3 BNC connections, so I haven't gone that route just yet. I will definitely check out buffalovps if I do go that route since they seem to be one of the cheaper VPS hosts I've seen so far. Thanks. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2012-02-05 23:32 I got a lifetime discount code from http://www.lowendbox.com/ for them in August of last year. It took my monthly cost down to 3 bucks a month. You can find other providers on there as well. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- liquoranwhores · 2012-02-06 00:09 I highly recommend http://quadspeedi.net They have been in business for years and offer great support. I have personally been a customer for 7 or 8 years. Drop into #quadspeedi on EFnet if your curious. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2012-02-06 00:11 You would think they would invest in a better website. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- rayZor_ · 2012-02-06 05:23 I've used http://www.xzibition.com/ for about a year now. They seem pretty decent. Multiple servers, and plenty of vhosts. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- DEADB33F · 2012-02-06 08:48 I don't really have any experience with dedicated bnc hosting, but if you search google for 'irc bouncer hosting' there's quite a few which pop up. The [Amazon AWS](http://aws.amazon.com/free/) free tier is fine for hosting a simple bnc. But is only available for new customers for 12 months. I've also used [prgmr.com](http://prgmr.com/xen/) for bnc use. Their VPS's start from $48 a year, the cheapest having ample power for hosting a simple bnc. Personally, nowadays I host mine on my NAS box and have the port forwarded through my router so I can also connect when out & about. [irccloud.com](https://irccloud.com/) is probably also worth keeping an eye on. It's currently in beta, but I know a few people using it and they all say it's rather good. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ckat · 2012-02-06 18:51 http://vertvps.com/ has 5$/month plans if you are still looking for something. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- DatThingDer · 2012-02-10 12:08 Frantech, very cheap : http://buyvm.net They do not always have stock. You have to either watch their IRC channel, follow their twitter or subscribe to one of their mailing lists to know when there will be new stock. Then when the new stock is released, you have to grab your package very fast ; Stock is usually gone after an hour... but it really really is worth it. It's fun to watch people get anxious over stock release in the IRC channel too :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- nliadm · 2012-03-21 03:39 [tinyvz](http://tinyvz.com) and [vpscheap](http://vpscheap.net) get my business. $15/yr (tinyvz) for just running ZNC is about the perfect price. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- edapstah_ · 2012-03-22 10:03 Not sure if exactly what you're looking for, but I use rdlbnc - havent had any problems. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- FiendKing04 · 2012-03-27 02:55 I personally have a German VDS with multiple user accounts including my personal one that I have a BNC set up with; works great for me and only cost(s) ~$10/month. Works great for me, but I guess the ones that other people have listed could work if you're looking for something strictly for a BNC, which I'm assuming you are from your initial post. :p ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ne7split · 2012-05-23 20:40 Companies I've used and enjoyed: [Linode](http://www.linode.com) (expensive) [Evorack](http://www.evorack.com) (cheap) Neither offer a ready-installed BNC service, but if you need help setting up feel free to message me (I run servers with both sBNC and ZNC processes). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- tacticalbread · 2012-06-05 04:39 A bit late, but [FreeBNC](http://freebnc.net/). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2012-06-22 09:39 I've used xzibition for 5 years now and love them, Bryan and Justine do an amazing job of keeping things running smoothly, and if there is ever any downtime they are fast to let people know.
