Anyone interested in IRCCloud? I've got 1 invite to share. reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2012-02-02 14:52 _ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2012-02-02 21:10 Sounds neat, what benefit does this provide that running screen on an always-on box though? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2012-02-02 21:17 [deleted] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- VoidByte · 2012-02-02 22:41 Amazon offers a free 1 year micro box. Plenty powerful for a IRC client. If your ok with paying you can get a low-end prgmr box for $5, $27 or $48 for 1, 6, or 12 months at prgmr.com. Another option is to setup something like dyndns.com (there are alternatives since I don't think they offer the free one anymore) and connect to a linux box at home. By no means am I telling you that you shouldn't use IRCloud, just offering you solutions to the lack of always on accessible box. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2012-02-02 22:46 [deleted] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- localtoast · 2012-02-03 11:18 Basically a bouncer with too much shiny added? I'll stick to my friend's ghetto SSH server with irssi+screen ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2012-02-03 11:56 [deleted] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- hyphen_ated · 2012-02-03 14:54 y'know, i mentioned that i preferred screen+irssi on an always-on box a few months back and a bunch of people suggested that i use an IRC bouncer... i still feel like i liked irssi better. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2012-02-03 17:47 I have an always on machine, so theres no sense in using a bouncer. It also hosts the ircd, so it pairs quite nicely ;) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- keve · 2012-02-05 00:07 Do you still have the invite, because I'd like one! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2012-02-05 00:18 [deleted] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2012-02-25 20:42 [deleted] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- keve · 2012-02-25 21:10 Hey thanks, but I already got in! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2012-02-25 21:18 [deleted] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- keve · 2012-02-25 21:25 It's pretty cool, but the interface sometimes get kinda laggy. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2012-02-25 21:27 [deleted]
