Hello, my name is Fred and I have a IRCing problem. reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- liquoranwhores · 2011-10-07 23:27 It's not that big of a deal. I spend a few hours a day on IRC. You know, like six or seven. It's ok, it's better then watching TV. I have a dedicated IRC PC with two monitors. I needed it anyways. I'm on 7 networks and 50 channels. Heh, who isn't? I'm only a regular in a few of them, mostly I just lurk. Can't everyone see OPERWALL messages? I'd love to share more.. but I need to get back to my channels, somebody is spamming giant ascii dildos. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- wuffers · 2011-10-07 23:29 Woah. Wait. What? SEVEN networks. FIFTY channels. I'm on three networks, only five channels. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- liquoranwhores · 2011-10-07 23:43 #1) Private - 5 channels #2) EFnet - 20 channels #3) Freenode - 11 channels #4) Quakenet - 3 channels #5) Private - 3 channels #6) Private - 2 channels #7) Private - 6 channels #8) Private - 1 channel TRIVIA: The old mac IRC client 'homer' used to connect to #8 by default. Anyone know it? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Solarbetrayl · 2011-10-08 00:04 Wtf #snowbunnies on talkcity is where its at ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Lynn_ · 2011-10-08 00:08 Are they *rainbow* giant ascii dildos? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- staticsafe · 2011-10-08 01:08 depends on the ircd (afaik) but its the umode +w in inspIRCd. BTW, are you referring to WALLOPS instead of OPERWALL? PS - Mind checking out my IRCNet - http://entropynet.net ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Gudahtt · 2011-10-08 01:24 Only one network here, mostly local people.... but I spend just about every waking hour on IRC ---------------------------------------------------------------------- venuism · 2011-10-08 04:35 haha I like you. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- tacticalbread · 2011-10-08 05:13 Oh god, I am the same way. 5 networks, forty channels. I spend far too much time on IRC. Let's be friends, Fred. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- liquoranwhores · 2011-10-08 05:47 I have joined. Also, I mean OPERWALL. Everyone knows the only real IRCd is hybird. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- liquoranwhores · 2011-10-08 05:48 OK. PM a nick/network and I'll be there. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- curson · 2011-10-08 08:02 6 Networks and 12 Channels for me. Used to be a bit more in the past, had some busy time on a 230+ users channel I used to be OP on, back some years. Now, while activity is somewhat on the low side most of the time (except for the private channel me and 6 of my friends and long time IRCers love to ramble on) I really couldn't see me without IRC. Been on it since 1994, and always found a way to have fun ;) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2011-10-08 14:39 Two networks, two channels. Best mode. I leave channels where I'm not active or care about what goes on. It's been the same for about a decade for me. Never more than 5-6 channels! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- d0nkeh · 2011-10-08 17:35 That makes a great copypasta... Added to my irssi aliases. I used to be in more channels on more networks than I am now. I've cut down over the past year to stick to channels that meet the criteria of: 1. I am active (or pay attention to conversation) 1. The channel does not have mostly overlapping users with another channel (without good reason). Those two changes have gotten me down to 13 channels on 4 networks. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- robbiet480 · 2011-10-09 03:05 I feel like I know you from somewhere staticsafe.... *WINK* ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thestinkypig · 2011-10-15 03:30 I've been on irc for a decade...founded and ran hundreds of channels and networks with hundreds an thousands of users... Believe me you don't have an irc problem till you're on over 10-15 networks and 250+ channels ---------------------------------------------------------------------- joke-away · 2011-10-29 03:04 I want to know the private networks. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2011-10-31 04:53 [deleted] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- shmup · 2011-10-31 04:56 ls ~/.irssi/scripts/autorun > please.txt i'm just curious. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- liquoranwhores · 2011-10-31 21:56 I already gave you a hint. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- liquoranwhores · 2011-10-31 22:01 [_i5rc1@zeus ~]$ ls .irssi/ 1995_called_they_want_their_irc_client_back Sorry. I use xchat :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- shmup · 2011-11-01 01:20 I wish irssi was around in 1995. :( ---------------------------------------------------------------------- bdreadz · 2011-11-02 23:52 I just remember faces on the homer client. Used that for some channels and then always had a shell account I used with a loads of scripts. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2011-12-29 14:07 5 networks, 2 channels each here. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- funknut · 2012-01-01 05:35 I was running Homer on Mac System 7 in 1991, but at the time I was only connecting to DalNet. Remind me. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- liquoranwhores · 2012-01-01 07:48 Starts with an E and ends with Fnet.
