Redditors, what's your favourite IRC network ? reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- NervousEnergy · 2011-04-02 20:31 Esper.net is generally a friendly network to be on. Have used it for years. Also houses the official Minecraft channel, so it's pretty darn active. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- b3d0u1n · 2011-04-02 21:09 EFNet, since I've been there from about '93-4 onward. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- eggbean · 2011-04-02 21:12 Freenode, hands down. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- kaysb · 2011-04-02 21:13 EFNet and IRCSource! :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- coachesballsack · 2011-04-02 21:31 EFNet. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Gudahtt · 2011-04-02 22:42 synIRC ---------------------------------------------------------------------- __loridcon · 2011-04-02 23:25 VoxInfinitus ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Paradox · 2011-04-03 00:03 Came here to say that. Freenode is possibly one of the best networks, what with the large number of channels, active staff, robust ircd (charbydis based) and services, and the official reddit chanel. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- gunwide · 2011-04-03 01:46 I go to Espernet all the time because of a old Sonic fangame's IRC channel was there. I never really adapted to any other network such as Quakenet because I've been using espernet for years. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- CrasyMike · 2011-04-03 03:33 I'm not going to post the name of it, but the IRC network I first joined when I joined a random chatroom like 5-6 years ago. Pretty much the only network I continue to regularily sign into. And there's probably only about 30-40 people actively chatting on the entire network at a time. Been the same group of us for the longest time with occaisonal people that come and go and a helluva backstory. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- velicos · 2011-04-03 03:36 FN #cisco > Any money you can toss at TAC ---------------------------------------------------------------------- eggbean · 2011-04-03 07:36 So is it one of those suicide networks? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- eggbean · 2011-04-03 07:37 I'm not sure what you are on about, and shouldn't that be ##cisco? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- LinuxMage · 2011-04-03 09:39 Mostly Freenode, where I run a channel for a linux distro (#zenwalk), also use two smaller networks that I cannot name, as its a case of who you know kinda thing. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- HarryMuffin · 2011-04-03 13:34 Irc.voxinfinitus.net . It is like free node without the chaos. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- CrasyMike · 2011-04-03 14:40 I have no idea what that means. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- sissipaska · 2011-04-03 15:13 Ircnet. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- DuitseMusikant · 2011-04-05 20:19 My favourite, purely for nostalgic reasons, is Undernet. I joined undernet in '93 after some friends of mine migrated from EFnet. The network was epic, we had fantastic channels and innovative things, then IRC started its rapid decay. I long for the days when IRC was really good, now it's just a novelty for most people. Still love me some IRC. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- bennasaurus · 2011-04-05 20:40 This. 1998 for me. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2011-04-07 22:39 [deleted] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2011-04-09 09:50 Yeah? Who's Trillian then? 99% of these claims of ancient ircing are bogus. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2011-04-13 03:22 [deleted] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2011-04-14 04:59 [deleted] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- sje46 · 2011-04-14 19:15 Fuck this comment. Fucking offensive as all fuck. Downvoted. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- sje46 · 2011-04-14 19:16 I really dislike the network policies. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- CrasyMike · 2011-04-14 20:19 Wait what? I saw this orangered and I thought "Oh great what did I post now?" and I thought that is quite innocent. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- sje46 · 2011-04-14 20:21 I was being sarcastic. You were downvoted to -2 for no real reason. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- CrasyMike · 2011-04-14 20:25 Oh, yeah. It is only a fleshwound. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- eggbean · 2011-04-14 21:04 Like what? Freenode is pretty troll and technoretard free, and it attracts technically competent people, which is why I think it's great. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- hiphopopotamus1 · 2011-04-19 06:24 GameSurge ---------------------------------------------------------------------- electrocuted · 2011-04-26 20:29 Rizon ---------------------------------------------------------------------- noobit · 2011-04-28 02:32 Pardon me, but is that Reddit Chanel you're wearing? It's quite breathtaking. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- noobit · 2011-04-28 02:38 Where everybody knows your username... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- CrasyMike · 2011-04-28 02:45 Not quite, it's a bit bigger than that but I'd say I know most of the people on the server. And probably about 1/3 of the channel has met someone else in the channel. It's person and there is never any 'trouble'. Heck, in the channel I stay in it's never mattered who has op or not. "Power" does not really exist. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- NWLierly · 2011-04-28 19:00 Ancient is 89... those of us who showed up in 93' were nubs ---------------------------------------------------------------------- netrixtardis · 2011-05-06 03:38 OFTC - Freenode without the drama and the splits... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2011-05-12 13:00 [deleted] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- tacticalbread · 2011-05-15 02:28 Fuck yeah Espernet. Although I could do without the Minecraft channels. >:| ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2011-05-17 06:40 [deleted] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2011-05-17 06:43 [deleted] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- liquoranwhores · 2011-05-18 14:56 THERE IS BUT ONE IRC NETWORK... All thE pRemiere chatterS are on freenode. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- turbonegr · 2011-07-24 19:13 Recently I found this great little net called hardchats. There's a lot of tech-savvy users from all disciplines, and none of the highly irritating netsplits that plague Freenode. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- hintss · 2011-07-29 16:12 I see what you did there...
