Where can I get an IRC channel for a minecraft server? reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- MrDowntempo · 2011-02-01 03:14 I'm setting up a lil' minecraft server and website. I know that minecraft can integrate into a IRC channel and that sounds handy! I've used IRC a lot but never had to set up my own channel. Freenode I don't think approves of Gaming channels. Where else can I go? I have a very small budget free would be nice. =) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- timewarp · 2011-02-01 03:31 I'd recommend either coldfront.net or esper.net. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- CrasyMike · 2011-02-01 04:10 Heck, I've gone to a small IRC server for years. The owners pretty much let anything go, as long as it abides by the law, and will let you do your thing. They've handled IRC channels for two large gaming websites for a long time. irc.kbfail.net ---------------------------------------------------------------------- aperson · 2011-02-01 04:36 irc.vbirc.com would welcome you. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- AgentME · 2011-02-01 04:54 You could just host the IRC server on the same host as the minecraft server. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- tobsn · 2011-02-01 05:27 well, quakenet. obviously. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- MrDowntempo · 2011-02-01 05:58 I'm not planning on hosting a server and I don't think my GSP would support it anyway. I don't need a whole server, just one room. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Paradox · 2011-02-01 06:27 Freenode is always welcoming. As for the integration, that doesn't come baked in, its through various mods. I know Hey0 had one, but that mod's been discontinued :( ---------------------------------------------------------------------- DEADB33F · 2011-02-01 13:21 gamesurge.net is Ok I guess. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- sighdvu · 2011-02-28 22:08 You're setting up a minecraft server and a website? Just run an irc daemon, too! Shouldn't eat that much resources. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- MrDowntempo · 2011-02-28 22:29 Not possible. Website host is for websites, Games' host is for games. These aren't running on my personal machine. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2011-05-04 22:15 This. Much of the Minecraft community is on esper, and also freenode.
