Anyone have experience running Fujitsu PRIMERGY servers w/ FreeBSD? reddit / freebsd ---------------------------------------------------------------------- xzk7 · 2023-06-26 15:59 I'm considering purchasing a second hand Fujitsu PRIMERGY server. I see a couple of hits on [dmesgd](https://dmesgd.nycbug.org/index.cgi?do=index&fts=PRIMERGY) but curious if anyone has any first-hand experience with these servers and FreeBSD. Thanks ---------------------------------------------------------------------- timvandijknl · 2023-06-26 18:44 Just copy-paste the `dmesg` output to pastebin and post a link here, so we can check it out. That probably works a lot better. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- xzk7 · 2023-06-26 19:07 I don't have the server yet so I can't share a DMESG was just curious about experience with the brand before purchasing. I've never owned a Fujitsu so was just curious. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- omurice2 · 2023-07-30 15:43 Most are stock Intel hardware and will work out of the box, you might need to be a bit careful about the selection of of HBA/RAID controllers though. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- xzk7 · 2023-08-11 17:26 In case anyone else finds their way here... I found a good deal on a Fujitsu Primergy RX2530 M1 and couldn't pass it up. Haven't installed FreeBSD yet but will once I get some new disks in. dmesg: https://dmesgd.nycbug.org/index.cgi?do=view&id=7248 A few things worth noting: - Built-in NICs don't work in FreeBSD, I'm using a PCI card which is fine but uses up a PCI slot I'd rather be using for something else (oh well.) - Came with a Fujitsu D3307 (SAS3008 9300-8I) HBA Card, I flashed it to IT mode so I could bypass all the raid crap and give the disks to ZFS. This was a huge pain in the butt, but this mega thread has everything you need: https://forums.servethehome.com/index.php?threads/the-versatile- sas3008-chipset-my-vendor-crossflashing-adventures.28297/
