instal: manual partition options are all no good reddit / freebsd ---------------------------------------------------------------------- VS2ute · 2023-05-23 03:34 Trying to install FreeBSD for the first time and doing manual partition. The options BSD, GPT, or MBR give error "operation not supported by device. provider" The other APM is not bootable. Why would both GPT and MBR be invalid? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- grahamperrin · 2023-05-23 05:54 Which file, exactly, did you choose to create the installer? Also, please describe the device. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- VS2ute · 2023-05-24 01:26 It was the version 13.1 installer amd64 ISO. The PC is an old Dell Vostro business PC I dragged out for testing. Drive is spinning rust on SATA. Unfortunately BIOS is very restricted, one can not change common settings like RAID/AHCI/legacy or UEFI/CSM et cetera. So anyway I got the version 13.2 ISO instead and just did the automatic UFS whole disk option to get it done.
