And which steps  from the handbook did you try?


And why did you go for 14 and not for 13?

Has the same problem with 14.0 + drm-kmod couple months ago. Tried
install kmod from ports with no result. With 13.2 all works fine.

I cant even get 14 to boot at all but 13 work good.

Try installing drm-515-kmod. I needed it for my 6700xt GPU.

Why would rcconf help? Read the error, there’s a mismatch between the
kernel running and the kernel the module was built against. OP needs
to address that.

Hi just woke up, I am new to FreeBSD and I choose 14 because “I

Who knows what else is configure to be loaded. Better get too much
info in such cases than keep on asking for bits of info.

In this case, the *version mismatch* is a hint that you should build
the kernel module from source.

For simplicity – assuming that you do not already use [git\(1\)](https
://man.freebsd.org/cgi/man.cgi?query=git&sektion=1&manpath=freebsd-
ports) to manage copies of the `ports` and `src` repos:

1. `pkg delete drm-kmod drm-515-kmod`
2. `pkg install gitup && gitup current && gitup ports`
3. `cd /usr/ports/graphics/drm-515-kmod/ && make install clean`

Close enough :-)

It seems that you'll need drm-515-kmod, which requires FreeBSD 14.0.

Probably not.

Where graphics are properly driven with 13.2-RELEASE, it's *very*
unlikely that 14.0-CURRENT will fail.

Don't install the GPU driver via pkg. Compile it always from ports
when you use STABLE  or CURRENT.
