mysql zfs performance tuning tips? reddit / freebsd ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Dense_Care8224 · 2023-03-30 18:48 trying to get a bit more performance out of mysql running on FreeBSD and wondering if there are any dataset settings to optimize for performance - even if a mysql re-install is required with a brand new dataset / mountpoint ? thanks ---------------------------------------------------------------------- timvandijknl · 2023-03-30 20:41 Assuming you use INNODB databases, make 2 ZFS datasets... 1. one for the innodb datafiles, with `recordsize = 16k` and `logbias = throughput` 2. one for the innodb logfiles, with `recordsize = 128k` The one for the logfiles is optional, but it's good to be a little OCD with that stuff. And don't forget to disable ZFS Prefetching with `sysctl vfs.zfs.prefetch.disable=1` (put it in `/etc/sysctl.conf` to make it permanent ) This makes your ZFS a lot faster overall, but does make the writes/flushes a little slower. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- grahamperrin · 2023-04-01 16:02
