FreeBSD 13.2-RC4 now available – Colin Percival reddit / freebsd ---------------------------------------------------------------------- grahamperrin · 2023-03-25 17:03 Please test. leads to: * checksums * draft release notes * the schedule. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- loziomario · 2023-03-25 18:47 Its the time to upgrade again ;) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2023-03-25 18:48 [deleted] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- grahamperrin · 2023-03-25 20:12 If you're aware of using anything that has changed (see the release notes): maybe pay closer attention than usual to those things. More generally: use the operating system as you normally would. In either case: if anything seems out of the ordinary, make a new post, describing what you found. Someone will be able to advise whether a bug report is appropriate. Thanks ---------------------------------------------------------------------- perciva · 2023-03-25 20:13 > Please note that a fifth RC build will be arriving very soon with one more bug fix; 13.2-RC5 is expected to be the final release candidate. To be precise, 13.2-RC5 fixes the sendfile issue which was mentioned here a few times. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- grahamperrin · 2023-03-25 20:16 ~~Would you like me to make a diff in Phabricator, for~~ an additional row in the schedule? If you haven't already started on it. I posted on IRC asking for someone to update the schedule. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- paulw_ul · 2023-03-26 12:04 According to the draft release notes (if I understand correctly), ifconfig should now accept the rxtls flag in addition to the txtls flag, but rxtls is apparently not recognised and not (yet?) mentioned in the ifconfig man page. In /etc/rc.conf: ifconfig_re0="inet 192.168.1.69 netmask 255.255.255.0 txtls rxcsum txcsum tso" works, but ifconfig_re0="inet 192.168.1.69 netmask 255.255.255.0 rxtls txtls rxcsum txcsum tso" does not work. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2023-03-27 06:10 [deleted] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- grahamperrin · 2023-03-27 06:26 Which part of the notes? _ifconfig: add rxtls and -rxtls commands_ * is on the `main` branch, amongst [search results](https://cgit.freebsd.org/src/log/?qt=grep&q=rxtls&h=main), 2022-05-24, *MFC after: 3 weeks* * [is not found](https://cgit.freebsd.org/src/log/?qt=grep&q=rxtls&h=s table%2F13) on `stable/13`. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- paulw_ul · 2023-03-27 07:00 In the General Network section of https://www.freebsd.org/releases/13.2R/relnotes/ it says: "...KTLS (the kernel TLS implementation) has added receive offload support for TLS 1.3. Receive offload is now supported for TLS 1.1 through 1.3; send offload is supported for TLS 1.0 through 1.3. 1462dc95f796 (Sponsored by Netflix)...". I took this to mean that "ifconfig: add rxtls and -rxtls commands" was supposed to be in 13.2 by this stage of the release cycle. The "is not found" link leads to: https://cgit.freebsd.org/src/commit/?h=stable/13&id=f1f93475463891194c 453aff5f7c872fa9109b45 which seems to indicate that the "Initial support for kernel offload of TLS receive" commit should already be in stable/13? The same issue applies with 13.2-RC5 by the way. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- paulw_ul · 2023-04-04 03:05 Having looked again slightly more carefully (now that we're on 13.2-RC6), I perhaps misunderstood your point that the KTLS receive offload support changes in stable/13 do not yet involve ifconfig, whereas on the main branch ifconfig does recognise rxtls and -rxtls. In other words the KTLS receive offload support implementation won't *really* be available until stable/14 or >14.0-RELEASE. Is that worth clarifying in the 13.2 release notes? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- grahamperrin · 2023-04-07 08:12 /u/perciva ▲ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- perciva · 2023-04-07 08:36 Sorry, 1:30AM here.
