How to check your current sound device for a 'device_id' that will work with Spotifyd? This should come straight from /dev/, such as /dev/dsp1.0. How can I tell which is the correct sound device? reddit / freebsd ---------------------------------------------------------------------- morte9000 · 2022-09-03 01:37 I got bored of trying to use spitifyd, but thankfully I found ncspot. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- AccountKeep · 2022-09-03 01:43 Thankfully there's an alternative! Thank you! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- AccountKeep · 2022-09-03 02:20 Funny enough I just gave it a shot, and there's no sound. I can sign in, see all of my personal content and play songs just fine, but the sound doesn't come out of my speakers. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- morte9000 · 2022-09-03 02:32 Do you have audio for other programs? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- AccountKeep · 2022-09-03 02:34 Yeah, YouTube on Firefox works great, and I can even play .flac files off of a network drive. But nothing for Spotifyd/SPT TUI, or NcSpot. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- morte9000 · 2022-09-03 02:41 Hmm... my suggestion is that you build it with cargo, there's some good instructions on the github page for ncspot, maybe that helps It seems that the FreeBSD version is outdated in the ports Also: do you have a premium account? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- edthesmokebeard · 2022-09-03 17:25 Whats Spotifyd ? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- grahamperrin · 2022-09-03 18:30 > Whats Spotifyd ? `pkg search -o spotifyd` ---------------------------------------------------------------------- AccountKeep · 2022-09-03 18:38 I do have a premium account. In Spotifyd's config you specify the backend and device id for your audio device. From what I understand portaudio is the backend, and I just need to specify which device in /dev/ is correct.
