I kind of get disappointed when I see desktop clones like this,
because really, if I want a Mac, I’ll use a Mac. And it feels like
chasing instead of innovating. I’m hoping we see some new innovative
features and designs, like something engineered and built around
Hikari.

The comments here seem to miss what this project is trying to achieve.
It’s not (only) a reskin of FreeBSD with macOS like defaults. It’s
trying to achieve compatibility for macOS binaries including support
for Cocoa. This is a massive undertaking with high probability of
failure but if they succeed it would open a realm of possibilities
that are quite exciting and deserve a bit more encouragement than what
is seen here right now.

Mac OSX is FreeBSD with a proprietary GUI interface.

It has a largely FreeBSD-based user land, with some components pulled
from NetBSD, a Mach kernel, and then proprietary GUI and APIs, among
other things…
