Are there any GUI based for multi-band Parametric Equalizer for system wide sound? reddit / freebsd ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Far_Choice_6419 · 2022-08-17 04:54 Basically like to control the main system sound output using a GUI based multi-band Parametric Equalizer to fine tune the frequencies of the output sound, I don't like messing with the EQ provided by the multiplayer or web browser EQ since I have to mess with many different EQ platforms which gets hectic or missing advanced tuning. Wondering if there any way to get a GUI based multi-band Parametric Equalizer for FreeBSD 13.1 Thanks. Edit: Seems like "Pulse Audio" sound server can be installed on FreeBSD: [https://www.freshports.org/audio/pulseaudio](https://www.freshports.o rg/audio/pulseaudio) Then I can install "Pule Effect" which has a modern GUI equalizer and also other sound control/filters/plugins: [https://www.freshports.org/audio/pulseeffects](https://www.freshports .org/audio/pulseeffects) Although, I am not sure if I should install "Pulse Audio" sound server since I read that it is buggy and consumes too much CPU resource. The default sound server for FreeBSD is Open Sound System (OSS) and their protocol seems to be better in doing all the sound tasks, but no contribution software are out there for advanced EQ for system sound. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- desnudopenguino · 2022-08-17 06:13 In to see. A parametric eq sounds like something you'd run from a DAW, not like the more generic graphic eq tools out there. But I'm not really familiar with those in FreeBSD either. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Far_Choice_6419 · 2022-08-17 06:25 Hello thanks for your reply. There is a neat EQ called "Equalizer APO" (Probably the best of it's kind for multi-band EQ control for system audio output, only for Windows however): [https://sourceforge.net/projects/equalizerapo/](htt ps://sourceforge.net/projects/equalizerapo/) MacOS has a software which allows to use DAW plugins for the system sound output. Wondered if something like it exist for FreeBSD: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqcHFc- PgSU](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqcHFc-PgSU) Linux seems to have "PulseEffects" for multi-band EQ control for system sound: https://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2017/06/install-pulse-effects-ubuntu-ppa ---------------------------------------------------------------------- can-of-bees · 2022-08-17 12:01 Hey there! Have you tried: `# pkg install audio/pulseeffects`? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- can-of-bees · 2022-08-17 14:23 Also, if you `pkg install audio/pulseeffects`, that should pull in the other dependencies. You can check those w/`pkg`, or at freshports.org Alternately, checking freshports for other GUI mixers may help you find something that doesn't rely on Pulse. HTH! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Far_Choice_6419 · 2022-08-18 02:28 Hi, thanks for your reply. I will try it, I think "pulse effect" will require "pulse audio" sound server, I'm not too sure if I should install "pulse audio" since it's really buggy and takes a lot of CPU resource. If "pulse effect" works with OSS which is the default sound server for Unix, that would be nice. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- can-of-bees · 2022-08-18 02:49 I won't disagree, but if a nice GUI mixer is a must maybe pulseaudio won't be too bad! Alternatively, maybe try one of the other mixers; e.g. \`fossmixer\` or another! Let us know how it goes and good luck! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2022-08-18 20:42 [removed] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Far_Choice_6419 · 2022-08-20 10:56 pulse effect is deprecated, it is now know as "easy effects": pkg: No packages available to install matching 'audio/pulseeffects' have been found in the repositories ---------------------------------------------------------------------- can-of-bees · 2022-08-20 11:17 Bummer, and apologies: I didn't notice the "Broken" status on freshports (stupid me trying to use it on mobile). I don't see an "easy effects" port, so I don't know... https://www.freshports.org/audio/fossmixer/ ?
