No sound on FreeBSD 13.1 reddit / freebsd ---------------------------------------------------------------------- debu_chocobo · 2022-08-07 05:27 I'm having trouble getting my sound working on FreeBSD 13.1 on KDE. The system seems able to see it, but I hear nothing on Firefox, or on the test in KDE. I'm using an [HP Spectre x360 2020 15"](https://www.hp.com/gb- en/shop/product.aspx?id=2t980ea&opt=abu&sel=ntb) $ sudo kldload snd_driver I've tried this command from FreeBSD's handbook. No errors, but no output. Four of five years using only Linux, but first time on FreeBSD. Many thanks for any help. Other commands: $ dmesg | grep pcm pcm0: at nid 4 on hdaa0 pcm1: at nid 5 on hdaa0 pcm2: at nid 6 on hdaa0 pcm3: at nid 23 and 25 on hdaa1 pcm4: at nid 33 on hdaa1 pcm5: at nid 3 on hdaa2 $ sudo pciconf -lvc hdac1@pci0:0:31:3: class=0x040100 rev=0x00 hdr=0x00 vendor=0x8086 device=0x06c8 subvendor=0x103c subdevice=0x86e8 vendor = 'Intel Corporation' device = 'Comet Lake PCH cAVS' class = multimedia subclass = audio cap 01[50] = powerspec 3 supports D0 D3 current D0 cap 09[80] = vendor (length 20) Intel cap 15 version 0 cap 05[60] = MSI supports 1 message, 64 bit enabled with 1 message $ sudo cat cat /dev/sndstat Installed devices: pcm0: (play) pcm1: (play) pcm2: (play) pcm3: (play/rec) default pcm4: (play) pcm5: (play) No devices installed from userspace. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- morte9000 · 2022-08-07 07:07 https://freebsdfoundation.org/freebsd-project/resources/audio-on- freebsd/ Check part 3, probably it will help you ---------------------------------------------------------------------- debu_chocobo · 2022-08-07 08:13 Partly solved it. Thanks! Headphones work but not the speakers. Any ideas? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- morte9000 · 2022-08-07 08:20 Well... not sure about that, I had a similar issue, but it was the other way around, speakers working and no headphones. This helped me: https://i-bsd.com/freebsd-wireless-8265/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- grahamperrin · 2022-08-31 19:27 > Headphones work but not the speakers. If it helps: I use [audio/gtk- mixer](https://www.freshports.org/audio/gtk-mixer/) to set defaults. With Firefox, have you tried (necessarily) reloading a playing tab, after changing the default?
