Deluge missing from ports? reddit / freebsd ---------------------------------------------------------------------- whattteva · 2022-07-09 05:11 I did a `pkg update` like a couple days ago and somehow that removed `deluge` from the list of ports. `pkg search deluge` now returns nothing. It seems like one of the dependencies of `deluge` fails the build is the issue. Unfortunately, I ran `pkg autoremove` without actually realizing that it would remove `deluge` so I unintentionally uninstalled it. Is there anyway for me to undo that `pkg update` database to the version that still had `deluge` package so I can reinstall it? Much appreciated! EDIT: The failed dependency is `py39-libtorrent-rasterbar-1.2.16,2` according to [this site](https://pkg-status.freebsd.org/builds/default :quarterly:123i386:ea12dee557ad:beefy4#new_failed). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- implicitpharmakoi · 2022-07-09 05:55 This isn't what you're looking for, but try adding from ports? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- whattteva · 2022-07-09 06:00 I've actually tried that option also. What a waste of time that was!!! After what seemed like an hour of compiling and clicking through compile-time options, I was only greeted with Build Failed due to that aforementioned dependency I mentioned. EDIT:I figured out the failed dependency from [this page](https://pkg- status.freebsd.org/builds/default:quarterly:123i386:ea12dee557ad:beefy 4#new_failed). It's `py39-libtorrent-rasterbar-1.2.16,2` ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mrreaper00 · 2022-07-09 06:01 https://www.freshports.org/net-p2p/deluge/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- whattteva · 2022-07-09 06:02 The point of this link is....? I think we all know that's the freshports page for `deluge`. It doesn't really help the question though. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- implicitpharmakoi · 2022-07-09 06:08 Thats interesting. So, it looks like it's broken, but I have 1 last suggestion you can try: make a jail, install the port there, expose the socket. Not seeing libsertas, never heard of it, will look into it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- whattteva · 2022-07-09 06:14 It's libtorrent-rasterbar. I updated my reply accordingly. I found that out after snooping around pkg-status site. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- implicitpharmakoi · 2022-07-09 07:16 I've had this same issue in my own code before, you can try adding CFLAGS+= -fPIC to the Makefile in ports for rasterbar, this is one of those obnoxious things where the whole dependency chain kind of goes south though, so just fyi. Alternately you can pull the -fPIC or other shared bits out of the upstream port, but that's likely harder. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- grahamperrin · 2022-07-09 07:40 > The point of this link is....? Convenience, and more. It helps to include basic information such as this in an opening post. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- grahamperrin · 2022-07-09 07:45 > … reinstall it? Is the package cached? `/var/cache/pkg` ---------------------------------------------------------------------- whattteva · 2022-07-09 07:46 Makes sense. Didn't think of that cause I kinda always assume deluge is one of those well-knowm things like transmission. Thanks for pointing that out! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- grahamperrin · 2022-07-09 07:48 > waste of time For the future: **poudriere** can save time – by fetching packages, then building only the requirements that are *not* satisfied by available packages. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- grahamperrin · 2022-07-09 07:49 Well-known or not, it's always helpful to have links. Thanks. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- whattteva · 2022-07-09 07:49 Unfortunately, I lost the cache cause in my confusion, I thought I just had to clean and refetch the whole thing to fix it (never had a port just goes missing on me). Maybe I could get it out of a jail, but was wondering if anyone knows a command to revert to the prior build. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- whattteva · 2022-07-09 07:50 Thanks. I may try that again later when I have time to sit through the compilation again. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- whattteva · 2022-07-09 07:54 Ahh duly noted! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- grahamperrin · 2022-07-09 08:03 > … a command to revert to the prior build. I habitually use [bectl\(8\)](https://www.freebsd.org/cgi/man.cgi?quer y=bectl&sektion=8&manpath=FreeBSD) before any package upgrade. If you don't have a boot environment with what's required, and if you can not build what's currently ported, then you might find an *outdated* package online, although I should not assume that it will work in a current context. To discover the names of files: 1. `grep deluge /var/log/messages` 2. `zgrep deluge /var/log/messages.0.bz2` 3. etc. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- whattteva · 2022-07-09 12:43 I tried reinstalling it from the cache (from another jail) and gave up. It just kept on asking for like a hundred more dependencies one by one and I just can't be bothered to keep hunting for the files. It's pretty crazy that all this trouble comes from just 1 stinkin' dependency lol. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- sbjf · 2022-09-03 09:15 So, still not fixed... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- whattteva · 2022-09-04 04:31 Nope. Still not fixed. It's been a couple of months. I've decided to deem the port abandoned and moved on to transmission.
