How to install all packages from FreeBSD DVD? reddit / freebsd ---------------------------------------------------------------------- anyracetam · 2022-06-15 17:39 I already know how to install packages "one-by-one" from DVD. But is there a command line (such as wildcard "\*") to install **ALL** packages from DVD? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- David_W_ · 2022-06-15 23:36 That's a pretty bad idea, and is likely impossible. Not every port can co-exist with every other one, and unless the DVD's choice of which packages to ship takes that into account (which I doubt), it can't be done. Also it would be pretty silly; you'd get several different web browsers, desktop environments, multiple database servers... it's not the sort of thing one conceivably would want to do. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- smileymattj · 2022-06-15 23:46 `pkg install $pkglist` Just ls the directory where the packages are into the pkglist variable. Then run the above command. If there are any directories you may need to format or edit the list. Or maybe use find instead of ls.
