Where can i get port for firefox 48? Can't find it on freshports, only
latest version.

Chrisbearry · 2022-06-11 08:54
why would you want a old version that's gonna have a bunch of CVES?

Thinking back to the good old days when I used Slackware, KDE 4, and
firefox 48.

Sorry for stupid question, but..
You mean cgit.freebsd.org/*? How to clone from it?

rykolepl · 2022-06-11 09:47
rm -rf /usr/ports
cd /usr
git clone https://git.freebsd.org/ports.git ports

If nostalgia is what you’re after, what about Seamonkey?
It’s a modern continuation of the Mozilla suite.

alexansh · 2022-06-11 14:06
I don't know anything about Seamonkey.

https://www.seamonkey-project.org/
But a quick Google makes me think it has been removed from ports

I tried to build firefox, but get this error:
===> firefox-49.0.2,1 Invalid perl5 version 5.32.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
doubled112 · 2022-06-11 14:13
Probably true. Perl 5.32 is 4 years newer than Firefox 49

alexansh · 2022-06-11 14:13
I need to build old Perl version?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
grahamperrin · 2022-06-19 02:20
You might get the source code, or an old package, however it will not
work with any recent release of FreeBSD.
(I used the port of Waterfox for long after it was removed from the
ports tree, until it became practically impossible for me to build and
install.)

## Seamonkey
– ten pages. It's no
longer in the ports tree, but some people make it usable.

> Thinking back to the good old days …
Do you want a nostalgic appearance, or something more specific?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
alexansh · 2022-06-19 11:56
Yes, i already did it, but from Windows XP.
