C++ 4.2 Headers reddit / freebsd ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Owlbusta · 2022-04-27 11:55 Hey everyone, I'm currently in the process of setting up a private server using freebsd as a root. However I'm having difficulties in getting the c++ 4.2 Headers (the folders are empty with the exception of the subfolders). Does anyone know where you can download the entire Header package? The only thing I found is their [documentation](https://gcc.gnu.org/on linedocs/gcc-8.1.0/libstdc++/api/files.html). https://preview.redd.it/9ocp0szo42w81.png?width=265&format=png&auto=we bp&s=71278ccd6ce6a73ea68b41f6231b58c0fb8fe10c ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BornToRune · 2022-04-27 12:18 Could you please give some more context? This doesn't look good. FBSD is using clang, but you've linked the GCC docs, these are two completely different thing. Second, what for do you need these exact headers? To the best of my knowledge, you don't need to explicitly specify the versioning when including any headers. This seems quite fishy. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Trilkk · 2022-04-27 12:18 The link you pasted is into GNU `libstdc++`, FreeBSD has been using Clang and `libc++` for years, so that's the wrong place anyway nowadays. To get the contents of `/usr/include`, you should just install the base distribution, which should be automatically done by the installer. So, the situation where the default compiler and supporting headers are not there should be impossible after a successful install. If you're missing something, you can get the contents directly from their distribution sites. The base system is contained in the `base.txz` archive, see for example: [https://download.freebsd.org/ftp /releases/amd64/13.0- RELEASE/](https://download.freebsd.org/ftp/releases/amd64/13.0- RELEASE/) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Owlbusta · 2022-04-27 12:32 Ah I see and it was my bad for not using enough context: The files I'm using require FreeBSD 11.3 and since they need to be compiled with g++ I got the error messages and it turned out I still needed the headers. The installation was done automatically via the hoster service so I'm not sure if something went wrong. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Owlbusta · 2022-04-27 12:33 my bad for not using enough context: The files I'm using require FreeBSD 11.3 and since they need to be compiled with g++ I got the error messages and it turned out I still needed the headers. Also, if there's a specific version if gcc required, you should go for that, there are multiple versions in the ports tree. I would say build/install the required gcc from ports yourself, or using the official repositories. The handbook is an excellent resource for these tasks. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Owlbusta · 2022-04-27 15:45 Okay thanks for the help! I've tried using putty but wasnt really able to.
