Using https://up.bsd.lv for keeping CURRENT up to date? reddit / freebsd ---------------------------------------------------------------------- solskogen · 2022-02-11 12:41 I've installed 14-CURRENT on my Pi, and want to keep it updated without compiling it on such a slow device, so I was hoping [https://up.bsd.lv/](https://up.bsd.lv/) would get the job done, but alas it just fails with: `src component not installed, skipped` `freebsd-update: Cannot upgrade from a version that is not a release` `(including alpha, beta and release candidates)` `using freebsd-update. Instead, FreeBSD can be directly` `upgraded by source or upgraded to a RELEASE/RELENG version` `prior to running freebsd-update.` `Currently running: 14.0-CURRENT` Are there any other options? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- reddit_original · 2022-02-11 13:12 There is no such thing as a freebsd-update version of CURRENT as stated in the message. You either compile/build world CURRENT or do without. CURRENT is an OS developer's version and not for general use. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- solskogen · 2022-02-11 13:35 [up.bsd.lv](https://up.bsd.lv) should have that... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thindil · 2022-02-11 14:25 As far I understand, you have to install FreeBSD version from the page, not the official release. It requires own version of `freebsd- update` script. Maybe only extracting it from the iso file will be enough. I see one problem here also: you want to use it on Raspberry Pi, which is arm64. And it is not supported on the page, there are only amd64 or riscv. Unless I'm blind again. 😁 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2022-02-11 14:28 [deleted] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- solskogen · 2022-02-11 14:30 You're right. I found this on [https://up.bsd.lv/available- updates.txt](https://up.bsd.lv/available-updates.txt) : ATTENTION: up.bsd.lv is on hold to develop and alternative to freebsd-update ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2022-02-11 23:21 [deleted] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- grahamperrin · 2022-02-11 23:50 > Are there any other options?
