Lenovo X280, dockstation and desired behaviors reddit / freebsd ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jfoucry · 2022-01-05 10:18 Hello Friends, I use FreeBSD 13-RELEASE-p4 on a thinkpad Lenovo X280 most of the time with a dock station. I use a HDMI external display. I would like : \- when the laptop is on the dock, close the lid and still have OS running on the external display; \- when the laptop is unplugged form the dock the laptop goes to suspend/resume state (acpi\_state=S3). Did somebody have a trick or a pointer to do that ? Thanks for reading me and for your advises. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- sfarosu2 · 2022-01-05 12:08 Hello, is all the thinkpad hardware detected by freebsd? How is the battery life? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- can-of-bees · 2022-01-05 13:36 I'm away from my desk at the moment, but I think for #1, there is a `lid_state` that you might be able to modify. \#2 I'm not sure - I've never had a dock. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- dddddavidddd · 2022-01-05 14:14 You might be able to do some of this with `devd`. You can set scripts to run on various triggers, like lid state. I did something with it for my brightness buttons, since they weren't exposed to Xorg: https://www.davidschlachter.com/misc/freebsd-acpi_video-thinkpad- display-brightness ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jfoucry · 2022-01-09 12:29 Interesting… I was pretty that \`devd\` could be the trick. Your post give me some ways.. Thanks. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jfoucry · 2022-01-09 12:31 Almost all the hardware is detected. Bluetooth did not work and the battery have change 1 month ago.
