I am trying to connect to mullvad VPN using openvpn on FreeBSD 13; I keep getting this error reddit / freebsd ---------------------------------------------------------------------- DarthRevanG4 · 2021-12-26 10:37 Options error: --up script fails with '/etc/openvpn/update-resolv- conf': Permission denied (errno=13) Options error: Please correct this error. I am running it as root, I have tried chown root to all of the config files placed in /etc/openvpn I tried setting script-security level 2 as well as suggested [here](https://forums.freebsd.org/threads/mullvad-via-openvpn-up- could-not-execute-external-program.79968/) and I still keep getting this same error. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- theRealNilz02 · 2021-12-26 10:50 The update-resolvconf Script is either Not Set executable (chmod +x) or your OpenVPN config File has the Option user nobody set. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- DarthRevanG4 · 2021-12-26 11:06 Okay, that semi fixed it. Now I have another error. WARNING: Failed running command (--up/--down): could not execute external program 2021-12-26 03:05:07 Exiting due to fatal error I followed what [this person](https://forums.freebsd.org/threads/mullvad-via-openvpn-up- could-not-execute-external-program.79968/) did to fix a similar error but it did not work for me. Edit: Disregard this, I was able to fix it by more thoroughly reading the above link. What did it for me was editing the script to point to /usr/etc/local/openvpn and editing the update-resolve-conf to use `#!/usr/local/bin/bash` using `#!/bin/bash` as suggested at the end of the linked thread did \*not\* work.
