NetSurf framebuffer on FreeBSD reddit / freebsd ---------------------------------------------------------------------- dorayfoo · 2021-12-12 19:54 I'd like to get an old Thinkpad and try and be a CLI-only as possible. So that means no X Window or Wayland etc window managers. However, I don't think I could completely go without a browser. Netsurf is a browser which includes the ability to show the interface directly in the framebuffer. I'm guessing that the framebuffer might be handled differently under Linux and FreeBSD. There is an official FreeBSD version of Netsurf, but has anyone got this framebuffer feature to work under FreeBSD? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- gumnos · 2021-12-12 21:16 Running `netsurf` in a frame-buffer [seems to require a helper `nsfb` program](https://ci.netsurf-browser.org/jenkins/job/docs- netsurf/doxygen/md_docs_using-framebuffer.html) which I don't see available in my FreeBSD package repos. I grabbed a nearby laptop that happens to have FreeBSD 12.2 without X and installed `netsurf` but had no luck getting it to run in a framebuffer using the instructions given at that URL. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- PkHolm · 2021-12-13 11:19 lynx browser should be able to use FB ---------------------------------------------------------------------- grahamperrin · 2022-01-01 08:33 I sent an e-mail to the maintainer with reference to your post.
