Bluetooth keyboard auto reconnect?

I have a Royal Kludge Bluetooth keyboard. I can pair to it easily with
the bluetooth-config command in FreeBSD 13-Release. However, if I lose
connection by turning the keyboard off or switching it to my other
computer (the keyboard can pair to 3 computers at the same time) I
can't reconnect. In fact, it doesn't connect at all and I have to
remove all the settings and start from scratch.

Anyone play with this before or have insight? most things I've found
seem to be with problems from 2005 or so.

EDIT:
An old forum post had a partial solution. If I delete
/var/db/hcsecd.keys and /var/db/bthidd.hids then restart those
services my keyboard will pair. The forum issue was for FreeBSD 10.1
Release.

I know it's an old post but I'm just wondering if you ever sorted this
out. I have the exact same problem. bluetooth-config scan works like a
charm but then it fails to reconnect.
