FreeBSD as KVM guest when host sleeps reddit / freebsd ---------------------------------------------------------------------- androidthepandroid · 2021-04-13 12:09 Hi. I am running FreeBSD as a KVM guest on a Thinkpad running Linux. Everything works fine, but FreeBSD (obviously?) doesn't notice when the host has gone to sleep, for example overnight, and even though everything works fine when resuming, the FreeBSD clock just continues from where it left off the night before, as if time just stood still, with no ill effects otherwise. I can manually run chronyc makestep to catch up, but perhaps there is a more elegant approach? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- nickbernstein · 2021-04-13 12:45 Haven't tried it under kvm myself, but it looks like this might work: https://github.com/aborche/qemu-guest-agent ---------------------------------------------------------------------- androidthepandroid · 2021-04-13 18:35 hmm something like that might work, with some trigger on the host after waking up.. given me some ideas, thanks! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- nickbernstein · 2021-04-13 19:16 I think the host waking up is the trigger to the daemon.
