Issues hooking up a USB/Zigbee device reddit / freebsd ---------------------------------------------------------------------- motific · 2020-07-08 21:19 I have a USB FunkStick (Silicon Labs BV2010/10), which it says has support in uslcom since January, I'm on 12.1-RELEASE-p6 so that should be covered. It shows up on `ugen5.3` if I check `usbconfig` which is what I'd expect. I think I should have some `/dev/cuaU` and `/dev/ttyU` devices so that I can point OpenHab at - but I'm not seeing them. I've added the following tweaks to loader.conf that I think cover what I need:- usb_template_load="YES" hw.usb.template=3 umodem_load="YES" ucom_load="YES" uslcom_load="YES" I'm new to this end of BSD so if my noobs are showing then feel free to point them in the direction of the right docs. I'm not scared of a little RTFM time. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thompsa · 2020-07-09 00:18 You should be able to use `usbconfig dump_device_desc` to show the device identifiers. The idVendor and idProduct shown should match what the driver is expecting. It may be a bit tricky as you have to expand the vendor/product tables from here https://svnweb.freebsd.org/base/release/12.1.0/sys/dev/usb/usbdevs, but this is the list of devices the driver will attach to https://svnw eb.freebsd.org/base/release/12.1.0/sys/dev/usb/serial/uslcom.c?revisio n=354337&view=markup#l229 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- motific · 2020-07-09 16:48 Thanks, `usbconfig dump_device_desc` shows the identifiers `idVendor = 0x10c4` `idProduct = 0x8b34` which tally up with the changes listed in [bugzilla](https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=243494) and included in revision [357430](https://svnweb.freebsd.org/changeset/base/357430). The revision is higher than the 354377 which you referenced, so does that mean that I've misunderstood something in the build process and that revision is not in the build I'm using (or need to build uslcom myself, assuming I can do that without rebuilding the whole OS?) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- detomassino · 2020-10-02 20:31 Hello Motific, I know it has been 2 months already but have you managed to solve this? I am having exactly the same problem and can't sort it out. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- motific · 2020-10-13 09:28 The version info u/thompsa gave was the clue. I'd wrongly assumed that things like device IDs would be included without needing to wait for the point-release. I jumped over to 12-stable and it's recognised there.
