require doesn't recognise manually loaded packages reddit / emacs ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Pay08 · 2022-10-15 20:30 I installed mu4e through my package manager, which put it into `/usr/share/emacs/site-lisp/mu4e/`. I added that to `load-path`, but `(require 'mu4e)` gives me an error message saying "Cannot open load file: No such file or directory, mu4e". The directory is in `load- path` and mu4e is in `features`. What should I do? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thetemp_ · 2022-10-15 23:05 > The directory is in load-path and mu4e is in features. Did you mean to write that it's *not* in `features`? If it's already in the features list, then `require` won't load it, because the features list is for features that have already been `provide`d. If you're sure it hasn't been loaded yet, you could try using the `load` function instead, like so: (load "/usr/share/emacs/site-lisp/mu4e/mu4e") That should load it directly and will automatically append the filename extension. Unlike `require`, it won't check the `features` list before loading. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Pay08 · 2022-10-15 23:50 It is *in* features. But why am I only getting this error with mu4e and not others like lsp-ui?
