No joke I have a prototype for something similar. Mine is a puzzle

Well, uh... that's interesting, but... the code is not... idiomatic.
For example:

    (defun egg-life ()
      (set-buffer "*scratch*")
      (erase-buffer)
      ;; calculate proper pet evolution function
      (pet-movement +egg-data+))

    (defun egg-loop ()
      (run-with-timer 0.2 0.2 'egg-life))

So every 0.2 seconds it erases the `*scratch*` buffer.
