Emacs sync to Google drive reddit / emacs ---------------------------------------------------------------------- manho1e · 2022-09-23 08:24 I have been using Google drive to share documents with my family and across different devices. Booting up xserver and going to browser to upload the file I need has always been the solution. But lately I find this solution to be pretty stupid. Are there a better way to do it? Looking for: a simple, cli/tui solution to sync Emacs file to Google drive. What I have found: Grive (seems like it stopped working?) iCloud, Dropbox, syncthing (require xserver(?) Thanks you in advance!! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- oz10001 · 2022-09-23 09:07 Go syncthing way ---------------------------------------------------------------------- grimscythe_ · 2022-09-23 09:30 Try rclone it has a pretty good documentation how to get going. But it does require manual push/pull scripts. No autosync between local and remote. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- whudwl · 2022-09-23 10:06 Tramp+rclone is your friend ---------------------------------------------------------------------- oz10001 · 2022-09-23 10:13 Syncthing is decentralized. If you have a nas host it and sync between all your devices ---------------------------------------------------------------------- _viz_ · 2022-09-23 10:29 GVFS is another possibility. TRAMP also has support for gvfs, check the info manual. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- grimscythe_ · 2022-09-23 10:35 How would this help with syncing? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- tacosandlinux · 2022-09-23 11:54 I've done this in the past and works surprisingly well. I insync/sync with google drive which then syncs with my phone. From there, I use orgzly on my phone that sends notifications based on dates and deadlines in my agenda. Obviously Insync costs a bit, but it's easy. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TheSnowIsCold-46 · 2022-09-24 03:07 This is the same setup I eventually went to. Insync was pricey but smooth sailing now. Also using Orgzly!
