Setting up lsp-mode is time consuming, is there any other simple alternative? reddit / emacs ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ethan045627 · 2022-06-22 02:57 Setting up lsp-mode for each language is time consuming, is there a package to which we just have to pass a list of languages and it gets up the best language server for each language with all basic settings? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- MitchellMarquez42 · 2022-06-22 03:45 !remindme 8d ---------------------------------------------------------------------- RemindMeBot · 2022-06-22 03:46 I will be messaging you in 8 days on [**2022-06-30 03:45:56 UTC**](htt p://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=2022-06- 30%2003:45:56%20UTC%20To%20Local%20Time) to remind you of [**this link **](https://www.reddit.com/r/emacs/comments/vhurwf/setting_up_lspmode_ is_time_consuming_is_there_any/id9j0ge/?context=3) [**CLICK THIS LINK**](https://www.reddit.com/message/compose/?to=Remin dMeBot&subject=Reminder&message=%5Bhttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.reddit.com%2Fr%2F emacs%2Fcomments%2Fvhurwf%2Fsetting_up_lspmode_is_time_consuming_is_th ere_any%2Fid9j0ge%2F%5D%0A%0ARemindMe%21%202022-06- 30%2003%3A45%3A56%20UTC) to send a PM to also be reminded and to reduce spam. ^(Parent commenter can ) [^(delete this message to hide from others.)] (https://www.reddit.com/message/compose/?to=RemindMeBot&subject=Delete %20Comment&message=Delete%21%20vhurwf) ***** |[^(Info)](https://www.reddit.com/r/RemindMeBot/comments/e1bko7/remind mebot_info_v21/)|[^(Custom)](https://www.reddit.com/message/compose/?t o=RemindMeBot&subject=Reminder&message=%5BLink%20or%20message%20inside %20square%20brackets%5D%0A%0ARemindMe%21%20Time%20period%20here)|[^(Yo ur Reminders)](https://www.reddit.com/message/compose/?to=RemindMeBot& subject=List%20Of%20Reminders&message=MyReminders%21)|[^(Feedback)](ht tps://www.reddit.com/message/compose/?to=Watchful1&subject=RemindMeBot %20Feedback)| |-|-|-|-| ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Faerryn · 2022-06-22 04:03 try out eglot. you can customize the default server (or specify it when you run `M-x eglot`). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- xqianliu · 2022-06-22 04:59 Also can try lsp-bridge ---------------------------------------------------------------------- FluentFelicity · 2022-06-22 05:03 Would add: lsp-bridge and eglot arent as feature-full as lsp-mode, but they are lighter. Sadly, neither have dap support yet (dap-mode relies heavily on lsp-mode, though can theoretically be tooled for any lsp protocol implementation). They each have their own benefits and quirks, so try them out yourself: Lsp-bridge is particularly new and in a state of flux, but it's by far the fastest since it's asynchronous; eglot relies on built-ins. Both "just work" out of the box and are much less obtrusive than lsp-mode (imo) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- hangingpawns · 2022-06-22 05:14 For me with C++, I don't have any issue. What language are you using? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ethan045627 · 2022-06-22 06:37 Then ,is good lsp-mode the only option if I need dap mode ? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ethan045627 · 2022-06-22 06:37 How did you setup lsp server for that please brief me ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ethan045627 · 2022-06-22 06:38 u/FluentFelicity says that dap mode is not supported yet ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ethan045627 · 2022-06-22 06:39 It seems nice but it doesnt support dap mode ---------------------------------------------------------------------- FluentFelicity · 2022-06-22 06:39 Yep. Presently, and likely *at least* for the next few months, there won't be another competitor to LSP-mode that implements the DAP. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- takutekato · 2022-06-22 07:10 Instead of hooking `lsp` to each major mode hook, you can apply this to all programming modes: ```elisp (add-hook 'prog-mode-hook 'lsp-deferred) ;; Less chatty for unsupported modes (setq lsp-warn-no-matched-clients nil) ``` ---------------------------------------------------------------------- yyoncho · 2022-06-22 09:03 Isn't it just adding a line in your config `(add-hook '-hook 'lsp)` and then install the server either automatically if supported by lsp-mode or by following install server docs? What do you need more than that? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ethan045627 · 2022-06-22 09:52 ;; Java (use-package lsp-java :config (add-hook 'java-mode-hook 'lsp)) Like this? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- yyoncho · 2022-06-22 09:54 Yes. You can even use prog-mode-hook and lsp-mode will try to start in all programming modes. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mauguro_ · 2022-06-22 12:56 it's possible to use lsp and eglot at the same time? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- hangingpawns · 2022-06-22 13:13 I read the email lsp mode guide. Did you read it? https://emacs-lsp.github.io/lsp-mode/tutorials/CPP-guide/ You need clangd and bear. But it works really well. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ethan045627 · 2022-06-22 14:45 Ok Mate Thanks for info I will sure try it 😃 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ethan045627 · 2022-06-22 14:47 yes I actually use (add-hook 'python-mode 'asp-deferred), But I didn't knew about progm-mode-hook. Thanks I appreciate it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- xqianliu · 2022-06-24 02:32 Yeap, it's not supported yet\~ but it's kind of super fluent and fast on completion
