Drag and drop images into org files. reddit / emacs ---------------------------------------------------------------------- eis3nheim · 2022-05-25 10:24 I tried [org-download](https://github.com/abo-abo/org-download) package and while it works with normal org files it doesn't work for org roam files (don't know how since both are just org files), is there a reason for such behavior. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- danderzei · 2022-05-25 10:49 Works fine for me. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- eis3nheim · 2022-05-25 10:50 Could you please share you configurations. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- danderzei · 2022-05-25 11:18 This is my config: https://nest.greenant.net/index.php/s/XAFTwkrgEHHoye7 I added the org-download config separately (I don't use it in my workflow because I like more control over images). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- nonreligious · 2022-05-25 13:38 It works fine for me, but I used to be puzzled when it didn't before I realized what the issue was: You need to have a top-level headline in your `.org` file for it to work, i.e. a heading beginning with `*`, like `* My title` -- `org- download` stores the image in a directory with the name of this heading. Lower level headlines like `** My title`, won't work. My `org-roam` capture template doesn't include headlines, since I vary the structure of my notes depending on the subject. To use `org- download`, I usually just make a temporary headline with the name of the `org-roam` file, drag the image over, and delete the headline. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- NextTimeJim · 2022-05-25 14:50 Sounds like nonreligious has your answer, but I hadn't heard of org- download, just tried it and works a treat for me! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Wolfer1ne · 2022-05-25 20:27 Probably will be added in Emacs29 https://lars.ingebrigtsen.no/2021/11/08/copying-media-to-emacs/
