Cut and Paste from a PDF in Emacs

How would one cut and paste from a pdf document that is open in emacs?

I can open and view the pdf within emacs, but emacs won't let me cut
and paste from the document into another document or file.

[pdf-tools](https://github.com/politza/pdf-tools) will let you do
that.

This works for me (using `pdf-tools`) but the PDF has to be of a
certain type (containing 'text') for it to work.

Some times I open PDFs which are more like an 'image' and in those
cases there is nothing to highlight in order to kill and yank.
