Would You Love A Open and free Hardware Company that has fsf compliant software installed? reddit / emacs ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Bright_Confidence769 · 2022-03-10 11:02 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- nv-elisp · 2022-03-10 16:09 Not enough information. What do they do? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- holgerschurig · 2022-03-10 19:57 No, not really. The FSF is too ... harsh on this. Should I have a schematics in VHDL or Verilog, then I can synthesize this and create an ASIC out of it. With that, the FSF has no problems. But I can create from the same VHDL or Verilog source also a blob that gets loaded into an FPGA. And now suddenly this is a problem? This harsh requirements for FSF approved hardware rules out a lot of hardware, e.g. no Atheros 10k based wireless card, none from Intel etc etc. I'll be relegated to old hardware. For me, this "freedom" will limit me too much. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- art_else · 2022-03-11 00:28 [https://puri.sm/](https://puri.sm/) is one that makes such hardware.
