Emacs Lisp Community Workshop: Video 3 (Durbar) reddit / emacs ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TheOfficialDTO · 2022-03-04 05:37 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- nv-elisp · 2022-03-04 06:53 I appreciate the initiative. I understand it's hard to strike balance between giving detail and overwhelming a student. One thing I noticed that was left out from the part of the lesson I watched: Use `#'` (sharp-quote) when quoting named functions. It gives the evaluator the hint that you're after a symbol's function cell. e.g. (apply #'+ '(1 2 3)) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TheOfficialDTO · 2022-03-04 06:56 Thanks for your suggestion! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TheOfficialDTO · 2022-03-04 07:05 Let me know if you get a chance to watch the whole thing. I would appreciate your feedback on the balance you mentioned, and on whatever other aspects you feel like commenting on. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 00-11 · 2022-03-04 16:14 Intros to using Emacs Lisp are always welcome. You might want to add a link to this on the Emacs Wiki page for [Learning Emacs Lisp](https://www.emacswiki.org/emacs/LearnEmacsLisp). A minor suggestion I'd make is to create multiple, shorter such videos. An hour and 20 minutes might be a bit long for a high-level overview/intro.
